So, we've had a few complications getting down to Lima...flight delays, flight cancellations, forgotten passports. We've been soooo taken care of and have been so blessed with nice, understanding people. After a day vacation in Hotlanta, we are beginning our third attempt to get on the plane to Lima. God-willing, we will be in Lima, Peru late tonight!

Here it begins...
Here begins my first blog, which I would rather characterize as an open journal. While I am specifically embarking on a few Latin America adventures in the next six months, I believe all of life is a great adventure. So, for all you non-Spanish speakers, the title of this blog La Gran Aventura translates to "the great adventure".
For those who don't know, here's an overview...
For the next 6 weeks, I will be in Huánuco, Peru, partnering with an organization called Paz y Esperanza at a children's/adolescents' shelter in Huánuco. I am going with a team of 3 other girls- all Wheaton students as well. We're not exactly sure all that we'll be doing, but we're excited and a little nervous to jump in to the life of the kids and workers at the shelter! Once we finally make it to Peru, we won't have internet too often, but I hope to post once a week or every two weeks.
Then, I will get to have an awesome time with my family and friends for the rest of the summer, including family bonding (and all that entails), a few road trips, hanging out with my newlywed friends, and spending a few days with my grandparents.
For the fall semester, I will be in Costa Rica! This is pretty recent, but I'm looking forward to it. I'll be going with Whitworth University to their Costa Rica center to take classes, live with a host family, see some of the country, and get involved in an internship.
Then, back to Wheaton for my senior spring semester! Crazy craze but exciting
So, that's a little run-down...more on Peru and the fact that we haven't made it there yet coming soon! :)
